Abstract

The development of sustainable tourism policy is established as a fundamental pillar for the effective management of municipal governments. However, there remains a disconnect between policy design and its effective implementation in local areas. The main objective of this research was to analyze the impact of national tourism policy and its impact on tourism development at the cantonal level. The study was based on a quantitative approach, with a correlational scope and a non-experimental cross-sectional design, aimed at examining the relationships between national tourism policy and tourism development. The results obtained reveal the limited coordination between national policy and local conditions, which impedes effective implementation that promotes tourism development at the cantonal level.
