Perception of the national tourists on the tourist image of Mazatlan, Mexico

In tourism, where the competition increases day by day, obtaining a safe and reliable tourist image among the various perceptions of tourists is a priority goal for each of the destinations in our country and particularly in Mazatlan.
Therefore, the objective is to analyze the perceptions of national tourists about the tourist image of this destination. In order to achieve this, the theoretical contributions on perception and tourism image were reviewed, in addition, a quantitative methodology was applied that relies on techniques such as the survey, through structured questionnaires.
The results that were obtained from April to September of 2017, on the perceptions of the national tourists, we observe Mazatlan with a pleasant, calm, comfortable and safe tourist image before the negative image of the insecurity and the drug trafficking in Mazatlan as in Sinaloa.
